Together we're making it easier to get to the USA, through our alliance with United Airlines.
Our alliance with United Airlines covers flights between New Zealand and mainland USA, including connecting flights within New Zealand and the US. For our customers, it means easy access to more flights and more destinations.
More seats, more flight times
Air New Zealand operates a daily service between Auckland and San Francisco, twice-daily services between Auckland and Los Angeles, and five services a week between Auckland and Houston. Houston services increase up to daily flights during the New Zealand summer period.
United Airlines operates a B777-300ER service between Auckland and San Francisco, commencing late October 2017 through to late March 2018 and operating up to seven days per week.
You can select complimentary seats on United Airlines operated flights when booked as part of your itinerary through Air New Zealand. We do recommend that you pre-select seating on United Airlines operated services to ensure you are seated together with family and travel companions.
Complimentary Seat Select is available at any time after you have booked when you sign in to myairnz.
Air New Zealand and United Airlines are Star Alliance members, so customers enjoy reciprocal frequent flyer benefits, such as earning and spending loyalty points. Star Alliance Gold members (Airpoints™ Gold and Elite) also receive frequent flyer benefits, such as lounge access and priority handling at the airport.
If you are connecting to/from a United Airlines operated flight, please check your e-ticket for the baggage allowance that applies to each leg of your journey. Find more about baggage allowances for Airpoints™ Gold, Elite and Koru members on United Airlines operated flights.
Check-in, meals, entertainment, children and infants
For information on meals, entertainment, special assistance, and infant allowances, please contact the operating airline.
Young people and children travelling alone
For 12 - 16 year olds travelling alone on United Airlines operated services, we remind you to review United Airlines's unaccompanied minor policy. Whilst these passengers are permitted to travel on Air New Zealand operated services, differing airline policies may see them denied boarding whilst transiting between the Air New Zealand service and a service operated by another carrier.
