In the community
Through our sponsorship and community partners Air New Zealand is committed to a purpose that's bigger than just our airline; that is to supercharge New Zealand's success socially, environmentally and economically.
We do this by working to inspire the next generation of leaders, share world class knowledge, invest in biodiversity conservation and scientific research, and by showcasing the best of New Zealand - iconic destinations, events, regions, and people - to the world. We are leaders in sustainable tourism, and work to champion regional development particularly in regions that need it most.
Air New Zealand formed a partnership with world-leading storytellers at the National Geographic Society to host a series of photo camps for underserved youths. The five-day camps provide opportunities for young people aged 16 - 20 years the chance to use photography to tell stories, explore the world around them and share their own perspective on what it means to be a Kiwi. With National Geographic photographers as their mentors, the camp participants are challenged to consider the difficult issues they face in their own lives, whether economic, environmental or social. Department of Conservation
As a major partner of Department of Conservation (DOC) we are helping to bring back birdsong to New Zealand's Great Walks, supporting important monitoring and research around marine reserves, and enabling threatened species to be transferred to safe breeding grounds around New Zealand. For more than 30 years Air New Zealand has partnered with Koru Care 4 NZ, providing flights for close to 2,000 children with serious and often ongoing medical conditions to experience amazing destinations like Disneyland in California or Dreamworld in the Gold Coast. These once in a lifetime trips allow the kids to enjoy themselves as all children should. Air New Zealand staff also take part to help make the overseas trips memorable for every child from the moment they arrive at the airport. Find out more about Koru Care
