Frequent Flyer Status Boost

When you complete 10 Journeys with Air New Zealand, we give you a Frequent Flyer Status Boost as a thank you. This bonus is exclusive to Airpoints™ Elite and Gold members.

As an Airpoints Elite or Gold member we recognise you spend a great deal of time in the air with us. We value your choice to fly with us, so each time you complete 10 Status Boost Journeys, whether it's to Taupō or Taipei, we'll give you a Status Points bonus as a thank you.

How does Frequent Flyer Status Boost work?

You will earn a Frequent Flyer Status Boost every time you complete 10 Status Boost Journeys within your Tier Status year.

  • As an Airpoints Gold member you'll earn 15 bonus Status Points for every 10 Status Boost Journeys completed
  • As an Airpoints Elite member you'll earn 30 bonus Status Points for every 10 Status Boost Journeys completed

You'll see your bonus Status Points on your Airpoints latest activity displayed in the Air NZ app or on the Balances page in your Air NZ online account, the day after you complete your 10th Status Boost Journey. They'll count towards retaining your Tier Status, moving up to Elite or earning an Elite banked year, just like the Status Points you earn today on Air New Zealand flights.

There's no limit to how many times you can earn a Frequent Flyer Status Boost within your Tier Status year.

On your Tier Status review date your Status Boost Journey counter will be reset to zero. You can't roll any completed Journeys over to your next Tier Status year.

Which Journeys count toward a Frequent Flyer Status Boost?

If your Journey is with Air New Zealand or an Air New Zealand flight number and ticketed booking on a Qualifying Partner Airline Flight, and earns Status Points, it will count towards your Frequent Flyer Status Boost.

Each Status Point transaction earned on Air New Zealand or Qualifying Partner Airline Flights that appears in your Airpoints activity will be considered a Status Boost Journey and will count towards your next Frequent Flyer Status Boost. These transactions can be found on the Air NZ app or on the Balances page in your Air NZ online account.

What happens when you move up from Airpoints Gold to Elite?

Your account is reviewed each day to see if you have earned enough Status Points in the past 12 months to move up a tier. If you upgrade from Gold to Elite your Frequent Flyer Status Boost counter is reset to zero. If you were on your way to completing 10 Status Boost Journeys, we'll give you a partial Frequent Flyer Status Boost to start your new Airpoints Elite year. This is a reward for those completed Status Boost Journeys that hadn't yet earned you a Frequent Flyer Status Boost.
