Koru Circle - Terms and Conditions

Any terms not defined in these Koru Circle Terms and Conditions have the meaning given in the Air New Zealand Koru Terms and Conditions.  For the purposes of these Koru Circle Terms and Conditions, all references to a Member is a reference to a Member with Koru Black status, and any reference to a package is a reference to a Koru Circle package. 

1. Overview 

1.1 Koru Circle is an exclusive Koru Programme benefit available to Members holding Koru Black status.  

1.2 Once per Membership Year, a Member may select either: 
a) the Koru Circle Family Package; or 
b) the Koru Circle Friends Package. 

1.3 Upon reaching Koru Black Status, a Member may select their preferred package at any time during their Membership Year. 

1.4 A Member may change their selected package and/or Koru Circle nominees (as set out below) within 30 days of the commencement date of their Membership Year. After this 30-day period, the selected package and/or Koru Circle nominees cannot be changed until the next Membership Year. 

1.5 If a Member retains Koru Black status for a subsequent Membership Year, their previously selected package and/or Koru Circle nominees will automatically roll over into the new Membership Year, subject to the Member’s right to change their package and/or Koru Circle nominees within 30 days of the commencement date of that Membership Year. 

1.6 Where a Member’s Koru Black status expires, that Member’s package and Koru Circle nominations shall expire on the Member’s tier year end date. 

2. Koru Circle Family Package 

2.1 By selecting the Koru Circle Family Package, the Member may via their Air NZ Account: 
a) nominate one eligible person as a Koru Black Nominee; and 
b) nominate up to five eligible Children as Koru Family Nominees.  

c) Add additional Children may be added through the Contact Centre up to a maximum of 15 Children in total.  

2.2 To be nominated, a Koru Black Nominee must be, or become, a Koru Member. 

2.3 A Koru Family Nominee must be the relevant Member’s Child and under 30 years of age. 

2.4 A “Child” means an immediate family member of the relevant Member and includes biological, adopted, foster, and/or stepchildren (“Children” is to be interpreted accordingly). 

2.5 Air New Zealand may request reasonable evidence to verify the Member’s relationship to any Koru Family Nominee. If requested, the Member must provide such evidence to the reasonable satisfaction of Air New Zealand and Air New Zealand reserve the right to accept or decline nominations of Koru Family Nominees at its sole discretion. 

2.6 Benefits – Koru Black Nominee (Family Package) 

When travelling on Air New Zealand-operated flights (and select partner routes where applicable), a Koru Black Nominee will receive: 

Access to Air New Zealand Koru Lounges, Koru Premium Lounge and select partner lounges; 

The right to bring One (1) guest and up to three (3) Children (subject to lounge availability); 

Priority check-in and boarding; 

Frequent flyer seating; and 

Baggage benefits, including additional checked baggage and fast bag service. 

Koru Black Nominees: 

Are not eligible for Koru Black Recognition Upgrades; 

Do not receive Star Alliance Gold status; 

Receive benefits only on Air New Zealand-operated flights and select partner routes (including Etihad, United and Cathay Pacific). 

2.7 Benefits – Koru Family Nominee 

When travelling on Air New Zealand-operated flights (and select partner routes where applicable), a Koru Family Nominee will receive: 

Access to Air New Zealand Koru Lounges and select partner lounges; 

Priority check-in and boarding; 

Frequent flyer seating; and 

Baggage benefits, including additional checked baggage and fast bag service. 

Koru Family Nominees: 

Are not entitled to bring guests; 

Do not receive access to Koru Premium Lounge 

Are not eligible for Koru Black Recognition Upgrades; 

Do not receive Star Alliance Gold status. 

3. Koru Circle Friends Package 

3.1 By selecting the Koru Circle Friends Package, the Member may nominate two eligible persons as Koru Black Nominees. 

3.2 To be nominated, a Koru Black Nominee must be, or become, a Koru Member. 

3.3 Koru Black Nominees under the Koru Circle Friends Package receive the same benefits and are subject to the same limitations set out in clause 2.6. 

4. Misuse, Revocation and Changes 

4.1 Air New Zealand may suspend, withdraw or revoke any Koru Circle nomination or associated benefits where: 
a) The Member or any relevant nominee breaches these Terms and Conditions or the Air New Zealand Koru Terms and Conditions; 
b) The benefit is used in a manner inconsistent with its intended purpose; 
c) Eligibility requirements are not met or cannot be verified; or 
d) Air New Zealand reasonably suspects misuse, abuse or fraudulent activity. 

4.2 Air New Zealand may vary, suspend or discontinue Koru Circle, or any part of it, at any time, subject to applicable law. Air New Zealand may amend or vary these Koru Circle Terms and Conditions at any time in accordance with the Air New Zealand Koru Terms and Conditions.  

4.3 All lounge access and travel-related benefits remain subject to availability, operational requirements, Air New Zealand’s Conditions of Carriage, and the Air New Zealand Koru Terms and Conditions.
