You’ll also earn Status Points when you fly with us or our partner airlines, which upgrade your membership tier to Silver, Gold or Elite giving you access to a range of great travel benefits.
About Status Points and tiers
You’ll earn Status Points every time you fly with us* or on selected services from Star Alliance and other partner airlines as well as with some of our financial products. Status Points add up to make you eligible for Silver, Gold or Elite tier status. As you move up the tiers, you’ll enjoy great extra travel benefits and privileges. Understanding your online account
Watching your Airpoints Dollars and Status Points add up is easy with your online account. Simply click on the “sign in” button on airnz.co.nz and enter your membership number and password to manage your profile, see how you’ve earned Airpoints Dollars and Status Points, or to spend your Airpoints Dollars. Your Airpoints membership number and password can also be entered into the Air New Zealand mobile app, which will display your upcoming Air New Zealand flights.
Claiming missing Airpoints Dollars
Missed out on Airpoints Dollars? You may be able to retrospectively claim Airpoints Dollars from your activity with Air New Zealand or with one of our partners.
Check your Airpoints Dollar balance on the go
Find your Airpoints number and keep track of your Airpoints Dollars and Status Points balances wherever you are with the Air NZ mobile app.
The Airpoints programme is an individual membership programme with special benefits designed to reward the individual member, however you can pool your Airpoints with family and friends via Shairpoints or your gifting register.

Alternatively, if you wish to pay for rewards with your Airpoints Dollars for your partner or another household member you can do this by creating a Gifting Register.
If you have forgotten your password, resetting it online is easy - click here to start our online password help service. You can reset your password (and choose a new one) in two ways: either by answering some security questions, or by providing your Airpoints membership number. - Sign in to your Airpoints™ account
- On your sign in page, select 'Your profile', (it's on the 'Kia Ora' tile on the left toward the top of the page)
- From your profile menu, select the type of detail you'd like to update
- Make your changes and hit the 'save details' tile
- You're done!
Please note, you can't change your actual account name or date of birth in the personal details section of the profile menu. This is a security feature to protect your account. To change your account details, please see the FAQ below.
The name on your Airpoints or Koru account should match the name on your current passport and should be the name used when booking your travel.
Should you travel under a name that varies from your Airpoints or Koru account, Airpoints and or status points will not capture automatically, and you will need to send original boarding passes and E Ticket copies to our Contact Centre for manual accrual.
If the name on your Airpoints or Koru account does not match the name on your current passport, please call the Air New Zealand Contact Centre. If you are an Airpoints credit card holder, please also call your issuing financial institution to have the name on that account amended, as the name on your accounts must match for your credit card Airpoints Dollars to be added automatically.
Transferring Airpoints Dollars to another member’s account is not allowed under the Airpoints™ Programme. However, you can gift rewards to anyone who lives at the same address as you do by adding them to your Gifting Register. To do this, sign into your online account with Air New Zealand, then find your Gifting Register on My Benefits. Once you have added a person to your Gifting Register, your giftees name(s) will appear in a list on the Enter Passenger Details page. Just select the name(s) of the traveller(s) you would like to gift an Airpoints reward to.
You must always gift a whole reward. In addition, you can’t pay for part of a gift with Airpoints Dollars and the rest with cash. If the person you want to gift a reward to is already an Airpoints member there will be no fee to add them to your Gifting Register. If they are not an Airpoints member there will be a service fee of $25 or 25 Airpoints Dollars to add them to your Gifting Register.
Elite and Gold members have the exclusive right to gift rewards to nominated people. Elite members can gift Airpoints Rewards to four nominated people who live outside their household per year. Gold Airpoints members can gift their Airpoints Dollars to two nominated recipients who live outside their household per year.

No, Airpoints Dollars may not be exchanged for cash. However, you can use Airpoints Dollars for a wide range of Airpoints rewards like air travel, rental cars, hotel accommodation or to buy or renew your Koru membership just like cash. Find out what you can spend your Airpoints Dollars on.
Air New Zealand lounge passes are not available for purchase. However, Koru members do have the option to purchase a Koru Guest Card which allows the member to bring an additional guest into Air New Zealand Lounges provided that both travellers are departing on an Air New Zealand operated flight, with an Air New Zealand ticket and flight number.

No. When you earn Airpoints Dollars, points or miles in one frequent flyer programme, they cannot be transferred to a different programme. Star Alliance frequent flyer programmes are independent and separate, therefore we cannot transfer your Airpoints Dollars, points or miles between them.
However, you can earn and use Air New Zealand Airpoints Dollars when you travel on any of the Star Alliance airlines or use Airpoints Dollars to travel on our airline partners.
